2 min read

Mysuru: The Discipline committee at Christ College Mysuru had organised one-day workshop on the topic “Cybercotics” on Friday at Christ College.

Lingaraju S from the Narcotics Crime Police Station, System Admin and Cyber-Crime trainer, Criminal intelligence Unit, CID, Mysuru was the resource person for the day.

“Forwarding a message is equal to accepting the message and endorsing the message”, said Lingaraju as he explained about Cybercrime.

He made a clear talk about the surface web – only 4 percent of the internet which we use in the world. The other 96% is unknown to the common and is illegal.

He informed the students about various measures that are to be taken, so that the students are safe on social media.

The session moved forward, by talking about narcotics, drugs, and psychotropic substances, where he explained briefly about stimulants (caffeine and cocaine) and depressants (alcohol, cannabis, and opioids), and several other types of drugs.

It was shocking for the students to know that caffeine reduces the blood flow and depressants reduce the function of nervous activity. The use of drugs in treating illness and abuse of drugs in recreation and experimentation were made clear to the students.

Lingaraju instructed the students to always remember the Laws enforced from the NDPS Act of 1985 like laws from section 15, 16, 17, 20, 21, 22, 25, and so on. Most of the laws involved the punishment periods of certain narcotics.

He also informed the students about the new activities like Narco-Terrorism, what to do and what not to do.

Poonacha of IInd BA was the emcee of the workshop.

The workshop was inaugurated with the grace of God with a song by Blessy of IIIrd BBA.

Robin Sharath Kumar, Head of the Department of Business Studies, introduced the guest.

Rev. Fr. Binu Joseph, Course Coordinator, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Christ College Mysuru felicitated the guest.

Anushree of IIIrd B.Com rendered the vote of thanks.

All the faculties and the students of Christ College attended the workshop.
