Mysuru: The Department of Health and Family Welfare conducted Covid-19 vaccine ‘Dry Run’ in the district on Saturday.
As many as 25 persons, Covid-19 warriors, were administered with the vaccine at three different health care centres.
The authorities had Jayanagar Primary Health Care centre (PHC) in the city, Bilikere PHC and KR Nagar PHC, for dry run. The dry run commenced at 11 am and concluded at 1 pm.
The dry run is a process of administering vaccination to analyse pros and cons of a vaccine. The mock drill involved three steps at vaccination centres. First step is the registration or verification counter. The beneficiary has to show an ID card and Aadhaar card to get vaccination. The details will be cross checked in CoWin software.
In the second step, the beneficiary will be sent to the waiting room. Later, the person will be administered with vaccination in a room and he will be shifted to another where he will be under observation for 30 minutes.
Dry Run Team
There were two vaccination nodal officers, two police staff, one data entry operator, five members vaccination officers and two additional staff for thermal scanning and sanitization at each PHC.
Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri, who inspects the process, interacted with health officials. Speaking to media, the DC said, “Dry Run is not an actual vaccination drive and we are making necessary arrangements for vaccination,” she said.
The DC said, it is not necessary to create a big cold storage and existing cold storage is enough. Initially, the vaccination will be administered among the 32,000 front line health workers (Corona Warriors). Later, persons with comorbidities will be provided with the vaccine.

DC also said mutated Covid-19 in the district is not confirmed yet. All 137 persons who returned from United Kingdom are tested negative. The sample of one person who tested positive has been sent to Bengaluru but, we are yet to receive the result. However, the lab authorities have informed the report will be sent to the government, she said.
