Covid-19! Mortality rate at 3.85 pc in Mysuru, minister for death audit

Mysuru: Even as the test positivity rate is on the decline in Mysuru district, the death rate is going up. Following this, Health and Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar has initiated for death audit.

Sudhakar who presided over a review meeting in the city on Tuesday told media persons “the test positivity rate is coming down, but death rate is at 3.85 per cent. It has been instructed to form teams at the big hospitals and conduct a death audit.

Of the total 20 hotspots identified in rural areas of the State,three hotspots exist in Periyapatna and Bannur, which will be henceforth considered as containment zone. The officials have been told told to create containment zones in Aspatre Kaval, Hangod and CLD, said Sudhakar.

The Mucormycosis cases (black fungus) in the district are coming under control, and surgeries have been conducted in over 60 cases.

To address the demand for health staff, 174 MBBS doctors are recruited on contract in the district. They will be deputed to taluk and district hospitals and will be trained in handling paediatric ICUs to prepare them for the third wave, when children’s are likely to be more vulnerable to the virus.

The vacancies of 11 surgeons and 31 general duty medical officers have been also filled up in the district, added Sudhakar.
