Covid-19: High-level meeting tomorrow as fever with cough cases spike in State

Bengaluru: With a spike in cases of fever accompanied by persistent cough in Karnataka, the State government has called a high-level meeting of experts on March 6 to work out preventive measures. Reports said that there is a surge in the spread of Influenza A subtype ‘H3N2’ for the past two-three months throughout India.

Minister for Health, Dr K Sudhakar said that “The Union Health Minister has communicated to the State to pay attention to the spread of ‘H3N2’. A meeting has been called tomorrow on the precautionary measures to be taken.”

With persistent cough and fever cases going up, the Indian Medical Association has advised the people against indiscriminate use of antibiotics as seasonal fever will last for five to seven days.

Meanwhile, Karnataka has reported 95 fresh Covid cases and 79 new cases were reported from Bengaluru in the last 24 hours. According to the statistics released by the Department of Health in the State, the State has 391 active Covid cases and the positivity rate has gone up to 2.44 per cent.
