Mysuru: Senior IAS officer Harsh Gupta who has been assigned to probe the Coronavirus spread in Jubilant Generics Limited, Nanjangud, has stated that the probe hasn’t started yet as he is still awaiting some clarity in the job.

“I have asked the government to specify the leads on which the probe to be conducted. There are 1,500 workers in the firm of which over 70 have tested positive. So, I’m waiting for the government directions in how to go about it,” said the officer.

“It is not possible to reveal whatever I have been told. Police have already begun the probe and I have not interfered in their investigation.”

He further said that he does not want to comment on how the virus could have spread whether through the container or other ways. At present, the priority is to contain the spread than digging the source, observed Harsh Gupta.

He was appointed to oversee Covid-19 management in Mysuru on April 14. Later, the Chief Secretary asked him to probe the Jubilant case.

“So, I have written to the government seeking directions in technicalities. But so far, the government has not replied. Hence, I have not begun the probe,”Harsh Gupta, IAS, added.
