Covid-19! Degree, engineering, diploma colleges to reopen on November 17: DCM Ashwathnarayan

Bengaluru: Ending speculations, state government has decided to reopen colleges from November 17. This was decided a meeting chaired by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Friday.
Deputy Chief Minister Dr Ashwath Narayan who holds higher education portfolio told media persons that “degree, engineering and diploma colleges will restart from the afore mentioned date. But there is no compulsion on students to be present in the college”.
“We have provided equal chance to attend college physically as well as online. Students can attend college whichever way they want to. Students who desire to attend the class directly have to take the permission of their parents, and a letter from either mother or father is mandatory for students to attend college, Ashwath Narayan added.
All kinds of safety measures are taken for the students. We prefer that students stay in the hostels. If any health issues persist for the students, the government will look after his/her hospital expenses, the DCM assured.
A task force has been set up in every college for the safety of the students. The task force will also be headed by district officers at the district level.
The minister informed that social distancing and Covid guidelines are compulsory in the colleges and the students and administration have to abide by it.
