Covid-19: B’luru lockdown has effects in Mysuru, people hoard things for a week

Mysuru: Fearing lockdown, people in the city rushed to markets to buy their essential goods on Monday.

As the state government clamped lockdown from Tuesday in Bengaluru to check the rapid spread of Corona virus, people in Mysuru too assumed that it would be the same here too, thanks to rising number of Covid cases. 

Prominent markets like Devaraja Market,  Santhepet and APMC witnessed hustle bustle as the people vied with one another to purchase their needs. In the interiors, grocery shops witnessed heavy queues by the people to fetch rice, wheat, sugar and other things.
 
“It appears that people are fearing lockdown in Mysuru too as the cases are rising by the day. He further said that, most of the customers were panic-stricken and were buying things in large quantities,” said Kumar, a vendor.
 
Meanwhile, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa held a video conference with deputy commissioners of high risk districts to review the situation.
