Countdown starts for Jamboo Savari! Final rehearsal successfully completed at Palace

Mysuru: With two days left for jamboo savari on Friday, Dasara elephants successfully completed the final round of rehearsal at palace premises on Wednesday.

For the second consecutive year, Jamboo Savari is restricted to Palace precincts owing to Covid restrictions.

Dasara elephants led by howdah carrier Abhimanyu, teams of cavalry, cannon firing police and other policemen participated in the last leg of rehearsal along with top officials, in the morning.

DCF (wildlife) V Karikalan clarified that “elephant Gopalaswamy which was scared at Srirangapatna Dasara due to the sound of fire crackers, is also included in jamboo savari procession. It is a debut for the elephant and we are positive on Dasara elephants led by Abhimanyu.”

The body painting of elephants will start from Friday 2 am and Gaadhi (the soft mattress to be put on elephants back) puja will be conducted at around 2 pm on the day of Jamboo savari. The process of mounting Golden Howdah on the elephant will start two hours before the schedule of offering floral tributes to Goddess Chamundeshwari.

Police Commissioner Dr Chandragupta, DCPs Pradeep Gunti and Geetha Prasanna, veterinarian of Dasara elephants Dr Ramesh and others supervised the final rehearsal.
