Countdown begins for the grand launch of Gruha Lakshmi scheme; 1.1 cr women to receive Rs 2,000 today

Mysuru: The Heritage City is all decked up for the grand launch of Gruha Lakshmi scheme, the much-talked about scheme of the Congress government. A grand stage replicating the Mysuru Palace has been erected at the Maharaja’s College grounds and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is expected to kick off the scheme.
On Tuesday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar offered puja by offering Rs 2,000 to Goddess Chamundeshwari seeking her blessings for the success of the scheme. Under the scheme, women head of the families will be entitled for Rs 2,000 every month. The programme will be held at 11.30 am where AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge will also be present. About 1.5 lakh beneficiaries from Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar and Kodagu districts will take part in the event.
So far, 1.1 cr women heads in the State have enrolled for the scheme and as the scheme will be launched, they will receive RS 2,000 in their bank accounts. The programme will be live telecast at 10,000 places throughout the State.
