Mysuru: Countdown has begun for Jamboo Savari (Vijayadashami) procession at Palace premises today. As announced earlier it will be a simple event this year, due to Covid-19.

Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa will offer puja to Nandi Dhwaja at Balarama gate of the Palace at the auspicious time of Makara Lagna fixed between 2-59 pm and 3-20 pm.
Later, the chief minister accompanied by chief guests including scion of erstwhile royal family of Mysuru Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar will offer floral tributes to the idol of Goddess Sri Chamundeshwari placed inside Golden Howdah mounted on Abhimanyu elephant, during the auspicious Kumba lagna between 3-40 pm and 4-20 pm.

Mayor Tasneem, District minister S T Somashekar, Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri and Police commissioner Dr Chandragupta will also be present while offering floral tributes to the Goddess.
Unlike previous years, the procession route this year is reduced to a distance of 290 metres inside Palace fort.
As Navaratri unfolded on October 17 at Chamundi Hill, the celebration was also restricted to Mysore Palace and Chamundi hills only.
State Government had framed Experts committee to decide on organising the festival in a low key with Covid safety measures. As per the committee, only 300 people are allowed to witness Dasara procession.
