Mysuru: The countdown for the country’s maiden solar mission has begun. The Indian Space Research Organisation has said that Aditya L1 will be launched at 11.50 am on September 2.
The spacecraft would be launched by PSLV-C57 rocket.

The mission aims to study Sun’s behaviour by placing itself in a halo orbit around the Lagrange point 1 (L1) of the Sun-Earth system. This is 1.5 million km from the Earth in the direction of the Sun and it will take about four months to cover.

Earlier, ISRO chief S Somanath offered prayers at Chengalamma Parameshwari temple in Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh on Friday.
