Cops on checkpost duty on Mysuru- Bengaluru road have woes

1 min read

Mysuru: Policemen working round the clock in three shifts at the checkpost near Kalastavadi on Mysuru-Bengaluru highway, fear for their own safety.

The bare minimum three policemen work in three shifts work to monitor the highway travellers, particularly Covid related duty.

ASI and two police constables drawn from three police stations work in shifts from morning 7 AM to 2 PM, 2 PM to 9 PM and 9 PM to 7 AM.

They are provided with poor shelter without proper lighting and drinking water arrangements and also safety measures, braving sun and rain.

The nearby Gram Panchayat authorities persuaded locals and made temporary arrangements of lighting with a focus light, but now they have decided to remove it. Recently, the wire connecting the light grounded and collapsed.

The mosquito menace is causing several health issues, yet we do our duty in these conditions, said a policeman.

Will the authorities be kind enough to address the basic needs of their own men? Only time has to answer.
