Cops ‘assault’ advocate in Mangaluru: Mysuru lawyers boycott court proceedings

Mysuru: Following the alleged assault by Punjalkatte police on a young advocate in Bantwal taluk, Dakshina Kannada district, Mysuru Bar Association on Wednesday declared a boycott of court proceedings in protest, for a day.
The lawyers who convened a meeting under the chairmanship of Mysuru Bar Association President Mahadeva Swamy decided to boycott the proceedings for the day, at both Law Courts complex on K R Boulevard road and new court complex at Malalavadi near K G Koppal.
The Association also demanded for action against the police for assaulting the advocate, as it is an insult to the fraternity.
It may be mentioned that advocate Kuldeep Shetty was allegedly assaulted and arrested by the police on Monday.
The graduates across the State are gradually staging protests condemning the incident.
