Cooperation department raises record Rs 50.5 crore towards CM Relief Fund

Bengaluru: In a record of sorts Cooperation Department has contributed Rs 50.5 crore to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund- Covid-19.

According to a release from Cooperation Minister S T Somashekar, beginning from April 03 to May 04, a total of Rs 50.5 crore is handed over from the cooperation
department for the fight against Coronavirus.

On Monday, a cheque for Rs 85 lakh was handed over to Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa. The fund was raised from various wings coming under the department.

The chief minister who acknowledged the key role of cooperation department in raising the funds called it as a record of sorts.

To substantiate, on April 03, a cheque for Rs 31.85 crore was handed over, followed by Rs 8.37 crore on April 08, Rs 4.77 crore on April 20, Rs 2.16 crore on April 28, Rs 2.5 crore directly from Cooperative societies and Rs 85 lakh on May 04, totalling Rs 50.5 crore.
