Bengaluru: Members of Karnataka Rajya Kattada Karmikara Kendra Sangha, Mysuru on Friday called on Labour and Employment Minister K Shivaram Hebbar.
According to State president of the Sangha P Raju, a memorandum has been submitted to the minister with a charter of demands.
It has been brought to the notice of the minister that not many registered construction workers have received the one time financial assistance of Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 announced as Covid relief in first and second wave in 2020 and 21 respectively. Hence the guidelines should be fixed and period of availing the benefit should be extended and the labour officers should be made responsible for that.
The financial assistance of Rs 50,000 given for the marriage of construction workers and their children should be extended to Rs one lakh.
Like other sectors, the construction workers too should be given financial assistance enhanced from Rs two lakh to Rs five lakh to build houses and the guidelines be simplified for the purpose.
The government should frame guidelines to register and renewal the card of those construction workers attested by the associations registered with labour department, as there are duplicate beneficiaries registered through CSC centres.
