Conserve environment lest we may have to walk with oxygen cylinder: Dr Sudhakar

Chikkaballapur: The Covid-19 pandemic that has gripped the whole world is an alarming reminder to everyone of us to conserve the environment that we live in and also significance of cleanliness.

Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar, Deputy Commissioner R Latha and other officials at World Environment Day celebration in Chikkaballapur.

“We must learn to respect the environment and live in harmony with it to have a healthy life,” said Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar.

He was speaking after planting saplings to mark the World Environment Day in Chikkaballapur on Friday.

The minister gave a clarion call to the people not to restrict the celebrations of World Environment Day to just one day. Instead, it should be our daily routine.

To mark the occasion, he planted a sapling to mark the afforestation programme in 100 acres area near Manchanabele, Amani Gopalakrishnakere, Jadalathimmanahalli.

“I consider this as my privilege to grow sapling that would be a part of the afforestation in 100 acres,” he said.

He further said that “Although it is great that we are living in 21st century. But unfortunately, the nature has forced us to wear masks now. Days would not be far that living with oxygen cylinder would be as common as wearing masks, if we continue to abuse our environment. Our today’s decisions will determine the future of our next generation. Hence, it is our responsibility to do our bit to conserve the environment,” he urged.

ZP President MB Chikkanarasimhaiah, Deputy Commissioner R Latha, ZP CEO Fouzia Tarannum, SP Mithun Kumar, TP President Ramaswamy and others were present.
