Mysuru: Mysuru district and City Congress committee on Thursday launched a post card campaign demanding the state government to provide groceries to each household and also financial aid of Rs 10,000.

This comes a day after Food and Civil Supplies Minister Umesh Katthi’s controversial statement, while speaking to a farmer leader over phone on Wednesday.

Katthi allegedly told the farmer leader that “it’s better to die…” when the farmer leader had called him to explain about the ordeal being faced by the people in need of rice.

However, Katthi tendered an unconditional apology later.

Condemning the very remarks of Katthi, KPCC spokesperson M Lakshman who addressed media persons in Mysuru, demanded the government should provide 10 kg rice to every household.

BJP said “Country first, others next”, but when it comes to the supply of vaccine, the country seems to have lost due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” alleged Lakshman.

Lakshman criticised that “BJP has failed to handle Covid-19 situation. The shortage of vaccine, beds, ventilators and oxygen have all created a panic. Both entral and state governments have failed to help the needy people, he claimed.

Those who want to be vaccinated should access Cowin App, while 70 per cent of the beneficiary people are in rural area who are unable to register on the portal, Laxman claimed.
