Congress demands account on Covid expenses, BJP gives legal notice

1 min read

Mysuru: While the Congress party has been vociferously demanding for accounts on Covid expenditures from the state government, a ruling BJP party MLC has served legal notice on Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah and KPCC President D K Shivakumar.

Advocate and legal consultant A P Pulakeshi has served the notice on behalf of his client MLC N Ravikumar who is also the BJP general secretary.

It has been succinctly explained in the notice to “withdraw all the allegations by issuing appropriate statement and unequivocally seek an unconditional apology failing which my client will be constrained to take legal action against you (Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar)“.

The notice is with regard to the press conference held on July 27 where Siddaramaiah had alleged Rs 2000 crore Corruption by BJP government in Covid-19, while purchasing medical equipment like ventilators, PPE kits, sanitisers, gloves, thermal scanner and oxygen equipment.

Siddaramaiah who has tweeted a copy of the notice has stated that “We will also reply legally and will take the struggle to the people. We had expected a notice from either chief secretary or minister, but has been issued by a MLC. If the government thinks that we can be cowed down, it is their foolishness”.
