Complete Ambedkar Bhavan works soon or face protest: AAP, Mysuru
2 min read
Mysuru: The dilapidated state of Dr B R Ambedkar Bhavan, located in the heart of Mysuru city, is truly disheartening. It is painful to witness the apathy of government officials and leaders, especially those who claim to represent the backward classes, as they turn a blind eye to its condition despite holding power and influence.
Being constructed opposite the Commercial Tax office in honor of the visionary leader Dr B R Ambedkar, the building has remained incomplete for over a decade. This negligence, spanning 10-15 years, is nothing short of an insult to the legacy of a leader who tirelessly worked for equality and social justice.
While leaders often glorify Ambedkar in speeches, their inaction on ground speaks volumes about their priorities.

Can Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who projects himself as a champion of backward classes, not see this? What about the ministers who frequently invoke Ambedkar’s ideology? Is this neglect not a betrayal of the very values they claim to uphold? Completing the project would require a modest budget of just Rs 20-25 crore. If funds are truly unavailable, why not appeal to the public for contributions? Citizens would undoubtedly step up for such a noble cause.

Today, the site is overgrown with weeds and littered with garbage, standing as a symbol of neglect and shame. The Mysuru unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has demanded immediate action from the government and concerned officials.
AAP Mysuru District President L Rangaiah stated that, if corrective measures are not taken soon, the party will launch a protest to ensure justice for this iconic project.
It is time for the government to wake up and act to restore the dignity of Ambedkar Bhavan and honor the legacy of Dr B R Ambedkar not just in words, but in meaningful deeds.
