CM Basavaraj Bommai reaffirms decision on night curfew in State from December 28

Mysuru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday reaffirmed the decision behind reimplementing night curfew in the State from December 28 between 10 pm and 5 am.
Speaking to media persons on his arrival at Mysuru Airport in Mandakalli, Bommai said ” the decision has been taken in the wake of prevailing situation at other states and countries regarding Omicron the new variant of Covid-19.”
Besides, restrictions have been issued to curb the gatherings during new year celebrations, and Minister Dr K Sudhakar has spoken in this regard.
Acknowledging that the businesses will be affected due to reimposition of night curfew, Bommai who denied reviewing the decision, said ” During the recent winter session in Belagavi, we had hinted about taking precautionary measures. Accordingly, we have taken the decision tightening the norms.”
Answering to a query, Bommai said “naturally it is believed that the infections surface here one and a half months after originating in Europe. All these are based on predictions not on any statistics.”
