CM Basavaraj Bommai inaugurates e-Library named after ‘Black Tiger’ Ravindra Kaushik in Belagavi

Belagavi: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday inaugurated e-Library near Shivaji Park, Shahapur in the city.

The library is named after Ravindra Kaushik, regarded as the best ever Indian spy in Pakistan. The library is built at the estimated cost of Rs 2.5 crore.

More than the library, why the facility assumes significance is the name of Ravindra Kaushik again, the little known ‘Black Tiger’ who is not known to many of the younger generation especially in the State.

Kaushik a native of Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, was a secret agent of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), working in Pakistan Army as a major when his cover was busted in 1983, and was caught by ISI agents and jailed till his death in that country in 2001 at the age of 49.

He was initially sentenced to death in 1985, but the sentence was later commuted to life imprisonment.

But the sacrifice of Kaushik who laid down his life for the mother land, deserves a kudos.
