Close shave with wild jumbo on Mysuru-Manandavadi Road in Nagarahole forest

Mysuru: A dramatic encounter unfolded on Monday on Mysuru-Manandavadi Road, at Balle in Nagarahole Tiger Reserve, when a tusker charged at a two-wheeler rider, triggering panic for sometime.
The biker, who was travelling from Manandavadi to Mysuru, was caught off guard when the elephant suddenly charged at him. Losing balance, the biker fell off the vehicle, on the road.
A quick-thinking lorry driver nearby saved the day by honking continuously, which distracted the tusker. After a tensed few moments, the elephant retreated into the forest. The visibly shaken biker sought refuge in the lorry, escaping unscathed from the jumbo.
Forest authorities have been alerted about the incident, emphasising the need for installing caution boards, while travelling through wildlife zones.
