CIIL, NVS join hands for implementation of NEP-2020

Mysuru: To create awareness and consensus among the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) teachers about specialized scientific contents, state-of-the-art tools, techniques and methodologies prevalent in the area of regional language education and mother tongue education in line with the implementation of National Education Policy 2020, the NTS-I of CIIL is organizing second phase of online capacity building language training programmes for the regional language teachers of NVS. 

In this regard, six-day online capacity building programmes for Punjabi language teachers of NVS started on August 16 and will go on till August 21. 

Prof Rajesh Sachdeva, Chief Guest of the programme, emphasized upon the fact that a good teacher is always a lifelong learner.

He further added that language teachers must be able to exploit the similarities and differences between target language and native language of students in terms of their respective scripts, grammars, associated cultures, vocabularies, etcto the benefit of the students.

Also, he spoke about the importance of different variables such as motivation, attitude, age group, intelligence, aptitude, cognition, and personality in classroom teaching.

In his presidential address CIIL Director Prof Shailendra Mohan spoke about the competency based learning and expressed that the teachers must be able to adopt and adapt to 21st century skills in teaching Indian Languages.

He further assured that these programmes will enable the teachers to revise and re-invent different aspects of teaching, testing and evaluation, especially, in thearea of language education.

Prof Shailendra Mohan further added these training programmes will play an important role in the development and promotion of Indian languages and thereby they will also contribute towards fulfilling ‘EK BHARAT SHRESHT BHARAT’ vision of the country.

Prof P R Dharmesh Fernandez, Head, Centre for Testing and Evaluation briefed the participants about the activities undertaken by NTS-I, CIIL and its seven regional centers, while Gyanedra Kumar, Joint Commissioner, NVS expressed his happiness on the fact the CIIL and NVS have come together to train the language teachers with state of the art tools, technologies and techniques in the area of language education.

Dr Pankaj Dwivedi, programme coordinator, welcomed the guests, while Rajan N P Deputy Commissioner, NVS proposed vote of thanks during the inaugural session of the workshop.

Dr Pawan Tibba, briefed about the objectives of the programmes in detail. 

About 250 teachers in four languages, viz Punjabi, Odia, Assamese and Urdu will be trained by renowned experts across the India.

A six-day programme will be conducted for each language. The programmes will be organized under the Joint patronage of Prof Shailendra Mohan, Director, CIIL, Mysore and Vinayak Garg Commissioner, NVS (HQ), according to Dr P R Dharmesh Fernandez, Deputy Director, CIIL and Head CT&E.
