1 min read

Bengaluru: The State government has decided to hand over the brutal murder of jain monk Kamakumara Nandi Maharaj to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told the Assembly on Wednesday that currently Chikkodi police are investigating the murder of the jain monk. But the case would be handed over to the CID, he told the Assembly.

He further told the Assembly that the police have already arrested two accused Narayan Mali and Hassan Saab with regard to the case and they are in judicial custody.

It may be recalled here that jain monk Kamakumara Nandi Maharaj of Nand Parvat Mutt in Hirekodi village, Chikkodi was brutally murdered by the two accused in his Ashram near Chikkodi and his body was dumped in a well in a field at Raibag.

It is said that Mali had borrowed money from the seer and did not pay back. He along with another person allegedly hatched a plan to eliminate the seer to avoid repayment.

“Murder of jain monk Kamakumara Nandi Maharaj is a sensitive issue. There have been appeals from the public to handover the case to CID. Hence, the government has decided to transfer the case to the CID,” CM Siddaramaiah said.
