Children learning bad habits, a cause for concern: Writer Satish Jawaregowda

Mandya: The anniversary celebrations of Jnanadeepa Vidyalaya Education Trust and Agamya’s Kids Corner and ‘Agamya Ratna’ award ceremony was organised by Jnanadeepa Vidyalaya Education Trust and Agamya’s Kids Corner at the Swami Vivekananda hall of the city’s PES College on Monday.

Speaking at the inauguration of the programme, Mandya District Young Writers’ Association President T Satish Jawaregowda said that, the attitude of presenting expensive gifts to children should be reduced, and instead the students should be instilled with ideas that would instill a spirit of service in the society.

He said that. currently some children are becoming slaves to bad habits and should be stopped from learning such habits. Children should be made aware about the financial condition at home. They should develop the habit of reading the works of great writers, said Satish.
Shivanna Mangala, Taluk President of the State High School Co-Teachers Association (North Zone), who presided over the event, said that education is being privatised.
He regretted that, not many parents are enrolling their children in government schools.
Karnataka Media Accreditation Committee member D Shashikumar and Akkamahadevi Women’s University, Mandya Centre, Assistant Professor V N Geetamani were presented with ‘Agamya Ratna’ award.
Later, the students presented a school cultural programme.
Senior journalist Chandrashekar Dakohalli, Jnanadeepa Vidyalaya Education Trust President Somashekariah, Secretary Honnamma, Head Mistress Geetha Manju, teachers Savita, Shweta, Bhavya and Pavithra, Football Manju, students and parents were present.
