Chamarajanagar woman among three from State selected for national honour

Chamarajanagar: A woman from the district is among the three beneficiaries in the State who are selected for national honour under pradhan mantri awas yojana (PMAY). They have been selected in the category of best houses built on pucca model.

Rachamma from old Extension in Ramasamudra is the beneficiary who has made the district proud by being adjudged for the honour, according to a release from the office of Deputy Commissioner M R Ravi.

The ministry of housing and urban affairs has instituted the award that will be conferred every year on the select beneficiaries. Rachamma who was selected under Vajpayee Urban Housing Plan and PMAY for the year 2016-17 built a house on her own site utilising the benefit of Rs 1,49,800 and Rs 1.5 lakh given by State government and centre under PMAY respectively totalling Rs 2,99,800.

The parameters for the honour are as follows- progress of house construction, exterior, plan, awareness among several others.

The honour will be conferred during the video conference of the prime minister on January 1. The prime minister will be laying foundation for various housing projects taken up under the union ministry of housing and urban affairs.
