Mysuru: Dasara is a few days away and the plan is to light up 75 km of the city and 91 circles, spreading up to outer-ring road junction. Cesc is spending over Rs three crore to beautify the city with lights.
Minister V Somanna released the posters of Dasara illumination sub- committee on September 12.
Somanna set a deadline of September 25 for Cesc to complete the works with Dasara to start on September 29.
Twelve different designs are planned, including the replica of Goddess Durga of West Bengal in five places.
Somanna said “one lakh unit of power is required to maintain the illumination of the city. So, the area around palace covering Raja Marga will be decorated with LED bulbs for illumination”.
The illumination will remain till teppotsava ( Coracle festival) at Chamundi Hill.
Illumination is also planned at Srirangapatna at the cost of Rs 10 lakh and Chamarajanagar at the cost of Rs 15 lakh.
Cesc MD Dr H N Gopalkrishna said “the people should enjoy the lightnings and should not come in contact with the bulbs. One assistant engineer and lineman will be deputed at each circles”.
