Centre is being indifferent to State’s demand for rice: Congress leaders protest in Mysuru

Mysuru: The Mysuru City and District Congress Committee members held a protest against the Central government for not providing rice to be given away under the Anna Bhagya scheme, here at Gandhi Square on Tuesday.

Congress had organised a State wide protest, to turn the heat on the Centre.

Congress in its election manifesto had promised five guarantees including that of 10 kg free rice for every individual among BPL card holders families, under Anna Bhagya scheme.

Holding bamboo bowls, they raised slogans against the Central government for being indifferent to the State government’s request to provide additional quantities of rice.

Congress district president Dr B J Vijaykumar told that the BJP led Central government is showing disparity. It6s intention is clear now that they dont want to provide rice to poor in Karnataka.

Nanjangud MLA Darshan Dhruvanarayan, former MLA M K Somashekar, City Congress president R Murthy, KPCC Spokesman M Lakshmana, former Mysuru Taluk Panchayat President Manjula Manjunath, former Mysuru Urban Development Authority President C Basavegowda, Congress leaders Dairy Venkatesh, M K Asok were prominent among the leaders who participated in the protest.
