2 min read

Mysuru: The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is holding a pan-India initiative ‘One Week One Lab’ (OWOL) – celebrating food research – aimed at boosting innovation, technology, and startups on Tuesday. This unique campaign will be held across its laboratories throughout the country.

Dr. N Kalaiselvi, Director General of CSIR will be the chief guest and Dr. Sridevi Annapoorna Singh, Director of CFTRI will preside over the event to be held at ITTF auditorium at 4 pm on Tuesday.

The ‘One Week One Lab’ campaign serves as a platform for the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) to showcase India’s global excellence in technology, innovation, and startups, especially in food research. Over the course of successive weeks, each of CSIR’s 37 constituent laboratories spread nationwide will present their legacy, exclusive innovations, and technological breakthroughs. The campaign includes week-long events organised by each CSIR lab, such as industry and startup meetings, student and society interactions, technology displays, and more.

An important focus of the campaign is on academia and skill development. It provides an opportunity for students from various domains to learn about the research activities and facilities of CSIR laboratories, fostering connections and opening avenues for future prospects. The campaign also seeks to establish a bridge between science and industry through meetings with industries and MSMEs.

This collaboration aims to identify potential industries for co-development of next-generation technologies and products, based on societal or regional requirements. The ultimate goal is to create a network encompassing government, academia, and industry, facilitating faster deliveries and deployments of innovative technologies.

With the launch of the ‘One Week One Lab’ campaign, CSIR aims to invigorate the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship, strengthening India’s position as a leader in food technology and startups.
