Cauvery Tula Sankramana at Talakaveri on October 17

Kodagu: Thousands of devotees are expected to gather at Talakaveri, the birthplace of river Cauvery in Kodagu district, to celebrate the auspicious Cauvery Tula Sankramana on October 17. The festival marks the moment when the river is believed to flow in full divine force and pilgrims flock to take a holy dip in its waters.

At precisely 7-40 am, when the sun enters the Libra zodiac, devotees performed rituals and prayers at the Talakaveri temple, seeking blessings from the sacred river. Religious leaders led special poojas, while the event also saw a significant participation of local Kodava families, continuing a long-standing tradition.

The festival holds immense cultural and spiritual significance for the people of Karnataka, with Talakaveri being a major pilgrimage destination. Despite the large crowds, authorities ensured the smooth flow of the event with heightened security and provisions for the devotees.

Kodagu district Administration and Muzarai Department have jointly organised the religious event at Thalakaveri where the Cauvery river is born.

Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, District minister NS Bosaraju, Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yadhuveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar and MLAs Dr Manthar Gowda, A S Ponnanna, Minister Ramalingareddy, DC Venkatraja and SP Ramarajan will be present.
