Mysuru: Cauvery Theerthodbhava (Water gushing from Brahmakundike) occurred at Talacauvery the birth place of river Cauvery in Kodagu district on Sunday.

The holy moment was witnessed at 6.29 am during the auspicious Makara lagna in Tula masa. Owing to Covid restrictions, it was reduced to simple event, unlike the years before the pandemic struck in April last.

Interestingly, the people of Mandya can have the rare privilege of collecting sacred water with the district minister Dr K C Narayan Gowda taking an initiative. As a representative of people from Cauvery basin, Gowda was a witness to the annual religious ritual.

All these years, barring the elected representatives of Kodagu district, not many from other districts including Mandya were attending the ritual at Talacauvery.

While the importance is given to offer bagina to the swelling river Cauvery at KRS in Mandya.

Narayan Gowda who will collect the Cauvery teertha (sacred water) will distribute it to the people at Kalikamba temple in Mandya at 5 pm today.
