Cauvery row: Good response to Karnataka bandh in Mysuru

Mysuru: Responding to the Karnataka bandh, members of Cauvery Kriya Samiti held a protest against the release of Cauvery river water to Tamil Nadu in front of KSRTC sub-urban bus stand in Mysuru on Tuesday.
Advocates and members of Bar Association too extended their support to the Karnataka bandh. The Central Business District area like Devaraj Urs Road and KR Circle look deserted.
With long weekend ahead, several passengers were stuck in bus stands as buses were not plying as usual. Scenes of passengers struck in Mysuru, Bengaluru and Davangere were common as buses were not plying.
Meanwhile, security arrangements have been intensified in Mandya, Mysuru and other Cauvery catchment areas in view of the bandh.
In Bengaluru, Pro-Kannada activist Praveen Shetty and his supporters, who were protesting against release of Cauvery river water to Tamil Nadu – as part of Karnataka bandh – were detained at RT Nagar in Bengaluru on Tuesday.
Business establishments had downed the shutters in Bengaluru and other parts of the State. Central Business district areas in the State capital wore a deserted look as many stayed back home due to Karnataka bandh. Even the autorickshaws, cabs and hotels too have suspended their services.
The BMRCL has reportedly suspended its Purple Line services that connects Mysore Road up to Kengeri. However, its green line is operative, it is said.
