Cauvery calling! Campaign to save river gets royal push

Mysuru: ‘Cauvery Calling’ ( Kaveri Koogu) a campaign to save River Cauvery initiated by Swami Jaggi Vasudev of Isha Foundation was launched in the city on Monday.

Scion of erstwhile royal family of Mysuru Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar flagged off the campaign near Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple at the north gate of the palace. It also saw the rolling out of vehicles to promote the campaign.

It is aimed at creating awareness about offering a lucrative economic proposition for farmers to convert into agro forestry, thereby increasing their wealth, while also helping to restore Cauvery to her former glory.

Isha Foundation had previously undertaken ‘Rally for Rivers’ campaign and Swami Jaggi Vasudev had rode the mobike from Talacauvery the origin of Cauvery to Bay of Bengal, the culmination point of the river.

MLA S A Ramdas, Dr M A Shankar director ( Retired) of research and head of dry land farming, GKVK were present during the flagging off of ‘Cauvery Calling’.
