‘Caste census: Whats the population of Vokkaligas? Shocking numbers of Veerashaiva- Lingayats’

Bengaluru: Expressing his deep concern over the caste census figures allegedly being leaked, Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy questioned, “Is this truly a caste census or a census of hatred?”
He also took a jibe at Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar for taking a U-turn on the caste census, despite having previously opposed it. In a media statement, Kumaraswamy asked, “What is the actual population of the Vokkaliga community residing across Mandya, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Ramanagara, Bengaluru Rural, Tumakuru, and Chitradurga — the Old Mysuru region?”
“The caste census was ceremoniously inaugurated in the cabinet with the ritual application of turmeric and vermillion, like a symbolic stick being lit to signal the birth of this elephant. And now, figures allegedly from that report are floating everywhere! Some unknown hand has systematically leaked them into the public domain!”
“It’s not just the numbers related to the Vokkaliga community — even the figures of the Veerashaiva-Lingayat and other communities have left me deeply surprised,” he stated.
“Is this census a conspiracy planted to create chaos in the state? Or is it a ploy designed to divert public attention from the rising prices and a series of corruption scandals that have embarrassed the government?” he questioned.
“If the entire state ends up consumed by the fire of caste, is this move by the Congress government a calculated step toward politically and socially targeting certain communities?” he asked, expressing his anxiety.
A Sharp Jab at D.K. Shivakumar — the Man Who Once Asked for a Pen and Paper
“Sleepless in his pursuit of the Chief Minister’s chair, he once begged the community saying, ‘Just give me a pen and paper once!’ And now, is that same man bowing his head and endorsing the Siddha Conspiracy Report?”
“Once upon a time, at the Kempegowda International Airport, he meekly opposed the caste census — and now, he has changed his tune!” said Kumaraswamy, criticizing D.K. Shivakumar. “Didn’t he recently flee from reporters who questioned him, saying — ‘I’m the state president of a national party… Everyone is equal to me! We’ve just now opened our eyes. Who is opposing the census? And even if someone is, why does it matter?”
“Today, the Vokkaliga community is paying the price for the sin of handing him a pen and paper. In his greed for power, he is using that very pen to write a death warrant for an entire community!” said Kumaraswamy.
He further added, “I do not support this report. I am fully prepared to fight against this injustice.”
