Mysuru: Noted writer Devanur Mahadev fretted that “the implementation of Citizenship Amendment Act ( CAA) and National Register of Citizens ( NRC) are like testing doses. There are many such spectre awaiting the country”.

Mahadev who is one of the strong leftist voices of the country was speaking during a seminar on ‘Media and Democracy ‘ organised by Gandhi Vichara Parishat in association with Gandhi Study Centre, University of Mysore on December 21.

Strongly criticising both the laws, Mahadev said ” The ball is now in the court of students who should vehemently oppose, by registering their protests with utmost caution”.

This Act is more beneficial for the corporates in the future. They will be holding a suzerraine power on BJP government. NRC poses the risk of disturbing inhabitants of the land like original settlers, tribals and nomads. If tribals are evicted from forests, the corporates can eye forest resources especially for mining.

Mahadev advised media to focus on facts and truth. Moreover there are chances of diverting the struggle and the protesters should be utmost cautious.
