2 min read

Mysuru: Sudhakar S Shetty a former chairman of Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FKCCI) has urged Home Minister Amit Shah to take steps to create awareness on Citizenship Amendment Act ( CAA).

In a letter addressed to Amit Shah, Shetty also the chairman of Jnanasarovara International Residential School Mysore (JIRSM) has explained that “Centre and State should have been utmost cautious while implementing the law. The authorities should understand that It is impossible to quell the protest by the use of force, that is bullet”.

It’s unfortunate that 20 people have been killed in the violence that erupted during the protests against CAA in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and North Eastern States. Two were killed in Karnataka also.

The emphasis should be on creating awareness to convince the people about the legal points in the Act. Especially the fact that muslims will be not be disturbed in any manner with the implementation of the Act.

There is a misconception among muslims that they will be ousted from the country. It is unfortunate that there is a sense of fear among them. The Indian Constitution vouched for religious tolerance and the country is a finest example of integrity in diversity. People irrespective of Hindu, Muslim, Christians and Jains have been living in harmony.

However one has to agree with the fact that the Act will weed out the immigrants from Pakistan, Afganistan and Bangladesh, who have found refuge here after partaking in illegal activities in those countries.

According to an estimate there are over four crore such immigrants who have been living in the border of north eastern States. They have continued with their activities in the country too.
