By- elections! Lotus blooms at R R Nagar, Sira with Muniratna, Rajesh Gowda’s victory

Bengaluru: Former MLA Muniratna has won the by- election to the Legislative Assembly from R R Nagar constituency.
In the changed circumstances Muniratna who had defected to BJP from Congress, succeeded in winning the seat for the saffron party.
Muniratna won by a margin of 57,672 votes. Muniratna polled 1,25,665 votes against his nearest rival Congress’ Kusuma-57,993 votes. JDS candidate Krishnamurthy finished third with 9502 votes.
While in Sira also, BJP won the election for the first time. Dr Rajesh Gowda of BJP polled 63,294 votes and defeated his nearest rival and former minister T B Jayachandra of Congress who secured 52,914 votes. While JDS candidate Ammajamna finished as a distant third in the by- election securing 29,166 votes.
