Bus carrying wedding party catches fire on Mysuru- Bengaluru Expressway

Mandya: A Volvo bus carrying wedding party to Mysuru was totally gutted in fire near Ganangur of Srirangapatna taluk on Mysuru- Bengaluru Expressway on Saturday.
As many as 30 to 35 passengers had a miraculous escape, as the bus was totally gutted, in the incident. The cause of fire is suspected to be short circuit, but nothing is ascertained yet.
Sources said that, the bus belonging to a private operator, was carrying a wedding party from Bengaluru to Mysuru, when the incident occurred. While most of the passengers were asleep, a few awake noticed smoke and alerted the driver.
The fire erupted and the passengers were forced to run for life, leaving behind the luggages, some of them containing valuables and cash.
The fire engulfed further and the bus was reduced to a metal, presenting a gory look, even as the passengers helplessly watched most of their belongings going up in flames.
Fire and Emergency Services Department personnel rushed to the spot and extinguished the flames, but nothing could be done to retrieve the belongings of the passengers intact.
The heat of fire had even damaged the luggages kept in the sideways luggage space of the bus.
