Burglars steal silver masks from a temple in Bherya village

Mysuru: Burglars have made away with two silver masks from Sri Doddamma Kariyamma temple at Bherya village, K R Nagar taluk in the district. The masks weigh around half-a-kg each.

According to police sources, the burglars have broken the main door of the temple, which is also the abode of village deity.

Around six months ago, philanthropic minded devotees had donated two silver masks to the temple. One mask was used to adorn the idol of Goddess Doddamma and another for Kariyamma, according to the president of temple Trust Nadagowda Kumaraswamy.

Saligrama police are investigating the case.

It is a second such incident in the taluk in the recent days as Sri Rama Temple at Chunchanakatte Katte was targeted in a similar fashion.
