Mysuru: Mysuru- Kodagu MP Prathap Simha instructed Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to upgrade its service on par with the demands of customers and private cellular service providers.

Presiding over the first meeting of Telecom Advisory Committee of BSNL, Mysuru business area, Simha said “By upgrading the services as and when the situation demands to stay afloat in business, BSNL must be robust in its approach.”

Simha referred to the complaints of erratic service of BSNL, when compared to private players.

“Airtel and Vodafone-Idea considered as the top players in cellular service are working towards incorporating super fast networks, but BSNL is still grappling with network issues. The service at H D Kote taluk in Mysuru, Chamarajanagar and Kodagu districts should be improved,” advised Simha.

BharatNet project under which government schools, primary health centres and fair price shops which are connected by internet at the government expense, has been stopped by the present government. The government should resume in the interest of the people.

Assistant General Manager of BSNL Krishna Kumar said “4g mobile network of BSNL will be provided in Mysuru, Chamarajanagar and Kodagu districts by December, and over 98 locations have been identified for the purpose”.

Mysuru leads in Optical fibre cable with over 4,286 kms of the fibre laid, with 2.94 lakh and more customers existing in the district alone, added Kumar.
