Bribery charges against Minister Chaluvarayaswami: CID arrests two agriculture officers

Mysuru: The Criminal Investigation Department sleuths who are probing into complaint letter alleging bribery charges against Agriculture Minister N Chaluvarayaswamy have taken two agriculture officers into custody in K R Nagar on Monday.
These officers were among the seven assistant directors of Agriculture Department in Mandya district who alleged that Minister Cheluvarayaswami was demanding a bribe of Rs 10 lakh in a letter written to the Governor.
The letter allegedly said that the seven assistant directors were under pressure to give bribe of Rs 10 lakh by Minister Cheluvarayaswami, who is also Mandya district In-charge Minister. It further said that if this harassment was not controlled, they would consume poison along with their family members. This letter was later forwarded by Governor’s Additional Secretary G Pradeep to Chief Secretary Vanditha Sharma.
This had created quite a ruffle in the State and the minister himself had sought inquiry into it. Following Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s direction to have CID inquiry into it, the CID team led by CID Inspector General Madhukar Pawar visited Agriculture Joint Director’s office and held a discussion with Joint Director V S Ashok, recently.
CID officials arrested KR Nagar Agriculture department assistant Director and Agriculture officer Guruprasad and Sudarshan, respectively, with regard to the case.
It is said that both the officers dispatched the letter from Saraswathipuram Post Office in Mysuru which contained the signatures of seven assistant directors.
