Hubballi: Security forces guarding the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s impromptu road show in Hubballi on Thursday were shocked when a boy cut through the heavy security cover and ran towards Modi’s car with a garland in his hand. However, the security officials ruled out any breach of security.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had arrived in Hubballi to inaugurate the National Youth Festival at Railway Grounds. However, from the Airport, he went on a road show to greet people who had gathered to catch a glimpse of the prime minister. As Modi was waving at the people, a boy managed to come out of the security cordon and went almost very near to Modi’s car. The Special Protection Group personnel took the garland from the boy and gave it to the prime minister.
Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner Raman Gupta said that the incident cannot be termed as a security breach. Over 3,000 policemen were deployed on the stretch and the entire road was barricaded.
The boy has been whisked away and is being questioned. The police have not revealed the identity of the boy.
