Blast from the past! Vintage Cars to hit city roads on September 29

Mysuru: The cars that were once the proud possession of royals and elites of yore will be hitting the roads on September 29. Navaratri festival will be kick- started at Chamundi Hill the same day.

The federation of historic vehicles of India (FHVI) has organised the rally in its second edition called as ‘Royal Classic Dasara Drive to Mysuru’ from September 29 to October 2.

For record, the vintage car rally will be flagged off by Governor  Vajubai R Vala from Rajbhavan in Bengaluru in the morning. As many as 50 cars and also motorcycles of yesteryears will be arriving, along with 125 participants from different parts of the state, country and abroad.

A 1937 make Sunbeam Talbot a two litre capacity car that was last owned by first and last viceroy of India Lord Mountbatten will be among the jalopy from the past. It is now owned by Sabena Prakash.

The other cars from 1920 to 1980 period are- Mercedes, Jaguar, Ford, Dodge, Buicks, Chevrolet, Morris, Austin, Lincoln etc.,

Soon after reaching here, in the evening, the car rally will pass through heritage sites and culminate in  front of the Palace for a photo-op.

On September 30, the rally will resume towards Chamundi Hill, followed by Bandipur National Park.

On October 1- a gymkhana is organised at Lalit Mahal Ground, followed by a drive to KRS Dam.
