Mandya: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah justified police action against BJP MLC C T Ravi by arresting him over his alleged derogatory remarks about Women and Children Development Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar.
Speaking to the media at the Gejjalgere helipad on Friday, before departing for the inauguration of 87th Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahithya Sammelana in Mandya, the CM stated that the police initiated action based on the Minister’s complaint.
“No women can tolerate such remarks. The police acted after the FIR was registered, and we will not interfere in the matter,” the CM said.
The incident sparked discussions in the Assembly, with several members voicing their concerns over the language used. The issue intensified after the Speaker staged a walkout.
Meanwhile, C T Ravi alleged that the police acted under instructions from higher authorities in the government.
“My life is under threat. If anything happens to me, the Congress will be solely responsible,” he claimed.
