Mysuru: In a joint initiative, officials attached to the department of animal husbandry and veterinary services and police are keeping a tab on the inter-state vehicles passing through Karnataka and Kerala border at Bavali checkpost at Nagarahole forest in H D Kote taluk.
The above measures are taken in the backdrop of bird flu cases reported in a large scale at Kerala.
Apart from inspecting the vehicles to check the transportation of chicks and other birds, as they are banned in Mysuru district, measures are also taken to sanitise the vehicles.
Deputy Commissioner Rohini V Sindhuri had told media persons on Wednesday that all precautionary measures are being taken to check the bird flu.
As a first measure, the deputy commissioner had prohibited the transport of chickens and other birds from Kerala to Mysuru.
The Veterinary officers are also keeping a tab on migratory birds.
