Binge drinking proves costly! Two including a woman ‘killed’ by their own kin in Hunsur

Mysuru: In separate cases, two persons including a woman were allegedly hacked to death by their children in Hunsur taluk in the district.
The victims met their tragic end for their habit of binge drinking only to irk their family members.
Devaraju (50) of Seegadi Katte was allegedly beaten to death by his own daughter. Like everyday, Devaraju came home on Saturday in inebriated condition only to pick up a quarrel with his wife. When Suneetha tried to rescue her mother, Devaraju didn’t budge.
Fed up of her father’s behaviour, Suneetha allegedly hit on his head with a stick. Following the beating Devaraju collapsed and succumbed on his way to the hospital.
Hunsur rural police arrested Suneetha and are investigating the case.
In another case, 55-year-old Jayamma was allegedly hacked to death by her 30-year-old son Harish at Bilikere town in Hunsur taluk.
Jayamma was a drunkard and Harish’s attempts to discourage his mother from the habit had yielded no results. Hence he allegedly hacked her to death with a sharp weapon.
Bilikere police have registered a case and arrested Harish.
