Mysuru: Amid heavy rain farmers staged protest near deputy commissioner’s office on Monday.
Farmers and several other organisations took out a mega protest march that culminated at DC’s office. As the protesters were planning to submit a memorandum to DC, it started to rain leaving the farmers drenched.
Farmer leader Vidyasagar alleged that “since one year farmers are demanding to withdraw anti-farmer Bills, while the union government is hatching plots to stop the protests. But, the farmers remain strong and continue to stage the stir.”
The farm laws are destroying farming culture, APMC Amendment Act and Electricity bills are proving a threat to farmers life. Unable to withstand the impact, many families are even committing suicide, he said.
Later DC Dr Bagadi Gautham received the memorandum from agitating farmers amid heavy rain.
Hundreds of farmers wearing green shawl raised slogans against the union and state governments.
Manju kiran and District Lorry Owners Association’s Abdul Khadir Sayyad and several other leaders took part in the protest.
Eventually, various protests organised as part of Bharat Bandh ended peacefully without any untoward incidents.
