Bharat Jodo Yatra: Rahul Gandhi arrives in Karnataka thru Gundlupet
2 min readChamarajanagar: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi who is leading Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kerala entered Karnataka through Kekkanahalla Checkpost at Gundlupet on Friday.
Opposition leader Siddaramaiah welcomed Rahul Gandhi on his arrival at Bandipur, while KPCC President D K Shivakumar was conspicuous by his absence.
Rahul Gandhi arrived by car as the permission is not given to walk through the forest.
Former ministers H C Mahadevappa, K J George, KPCC Publicity Committee President M B Patil and others joined Siddaramaiah in welcoming Rahul Gandhi. Later Rahul had his breakfast with the party leaders.
Rahul Gandhi who started his Bharath Jodo Yatra September 7 and trod thousands of km distance in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, will be resuming the Yatra from Karnataka today. He will be addressing the party workers and interacting with the next of kin of the victims of oxygen tragedy at Chamarajanagar government hospital and have lunch with tribals at Shaneshwara temple.
He will resume his yatra towards Begur in Gundlupet taluk on October 1 and enter Mysuru district through Nanjangud.
On October 2, Rahul will visit Khadi Gramodyoga Kendra at Badanwal village in Nanjangud taluk, which was once visited by Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi during freedom struggle.
Rahul will cover 511 km in 22 days during his Yatra in Karnataka.
The total five months mega rally aims at sending a clear message to the country for raising an united voice against the BJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the centre, under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.
