Bengaluru gets its first disinfectant tunnel at Yeshwanthpur APMC

Bengaluru: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) first of its kind disinfectant tunnel has been installed at APMC Market in Yeshwanthpur. It is a initiative of SadaSmitha Foundation led by Union Minister D V Sadananda Gowda.

According to a release, it is the country’s second such tunnel after Tamil Nadu, installed to check the spread of Coronavirus. The tunnel installed at Gate-1 will be helpful in controlling the chances of virus, as the market is thronged by farmers, traders and customers alike in large numbers.

Food and Civil Supplies Minister K Gopalaiah also the local MLA inaugurated the facility.

Gopalaiah who thanked Sadananda Gowda for the very initiative said, “as the market is visited by inter- State drivers and cleaners along with farmers and traders it will come in handy in fighting the virus. There is a need for replicating the system in three to four more places and will request Cooperation minister and officials in this regard. Most importantly, everybody must maintain social distance”.
