Tamil Nadu: Bellie of The Elephant Whisperers fame has been appointed as the first permanent woman Cavady (Elephant Caretaker) by the Government of Tamil Nadu, for her selfless and dedicated service in saving precious elephant calves at Theppakau Elephant Camp in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve.
TN Chief Minister M K Stalin appointed Bellie in the presence of her husband Bomman in Chennai on Tuesday.
Bellie and Bomman couple were showcased in an Oscar award winning documentary, The Elephant Whisperers.
